We have an amazing team with years and years of experience in caring for patients.
Floss has been working in dentistry for over 50 years, starting in 1959 as an assistant with Dr Hoober, and continued on with Dr. Wallace when he purchased the practice in 1993. Floss was instrumental in making the transition a smooth one for patients and for Dr. Wallace. As he says, “he couldn’t have done it without her”. Floss continues to work part-time 3 mornings a week, and when she is not at the office she is enjoying time with her husband Allen and their new puppy Shadow.
Dr. Wallace’s wife Ellen worked alongside Dr. Wallace in establishing the practice since its beginning. Although she is not seen behind the desk as frequently as she once was, she continues to oversee all office management. She is active in many volunteer projects in the community and loves being a mom to their 4 children.
Anne joined the practice in May of 1998 when Dr. Wallace and Ellen saw the need to expand the facility and moved the location of the office to its present address. Anne assists the doctors with office administration, and can also be seen working at the front desk. Traveling, reading, and hanging out at the beach are her favorite pastimes.
Kathe was hired in August of 1999 as a dental assistant. Two years later she was crossed-trained as a front desk receptionist. Kathe’s warm smile welcomes all who enter our office. Having both chair-side and front desk experience, Kathe makes a great front office manager keeping the patient flow of the practice running smoothly each day. When away from the office, Kathe enjoys spending time with her family and enjoys traveling.
Nichole also joined our staff in the later part of 2001. Nichole is a 1999 graduate of Northampton Community College Dental Hygienist Program. In 2002 Nichole and her husband Mike had their first child and since that time their family has continued to grow, making Nichole a full-time mom and our part-time hygienist. Nichole and Mike are the proud parents of two boys, and a daughter; Michael, Nicholas and Eliza. Along with working every Monday and Thursday here at the office, Nichole also creates and sells her own line of jewelry. Her designs are unique and beautiful.
In January of 2003, Gladys joined the practice bringing with her 18 years experience as an orthodontic assistant. In 2007 Gladys completed her training at Keystone Technical Institute in Harrisburg, PA and received her certification to practice as an EFDA, (expanded functions dental assistant). Gladys has been instrumental in helping Dr. Wallace expand his orthodontic services for our young and not-so–young patients alike. Not only is Gladys a talented dental assistant, she is an amazing crafter, cake designer, flower gardener and baker of the most delicious homemade cakes and cookies. She loves Phillies baseball, the great outdoors, traveling adventures with her sister Doris and having fun with her nieces and nephews.
In late 2004 Sarah Baskin joined our practice as a fill-in assistant after being a stay-at-home mom for 20 years. Having worked as a certified dental assistant for 5 years in the Washington, DC area before marrying, Sarah was ready to get back in the field. The fill-in position led to a permanent part-time position and she has been with the practice ever since, becoming full-time in 2008. Sarah is active in her church and community, and enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, biking, and hooking rugs. She is the mother of three grown children Josh, Catherine, and Kelsey. Sarah is often referred to as “Bob the builder’s wife”, since Bob is well known as the Summerfield repairman.
Maureen joined the practice in 2006. She hails from Reading PA and is a graduate of Central Catholic High School and the Northampton Community College Dental Hygiene Program. She enjoys working with patients, especially those with periodontal disease, where she can combine optimal oral health care along with patient education. Maureen is active in the Berks County Dental Hygienist Association, and volunteers at the Children’s Clinic in Reading. Maureen attends many continuing education courses and is a member of the PA Academy of Dental Hygiene Studies. Maureen enjoys biking and hiking with her husband Mark and their two children Ryan and Danielle, and for relaxation she loves to read. Maureen and Mark are proud new grandparents to their son Ryan and his wife Kim’s baby girl Marianna.
Liz joined our staff early in 2007. A 2006 graduate of West Chester University, she worked as a dental assistant for eight months with another practice before joining WWDA. Liz is a passionate learner and finds dentistry exciting. By the end of 2008, Liz completed her classes for Expanded Function Dental Assistant, and became licensed in November of 2008. Liz loves her big fluffy Newfoundland dog named Banjo, and she loves running. She is our only marathon runner on staff, having completed three this past year and one more marathons lined up for November of this year.
Also joining us in 2007 was Marne Sands. Marne completed her dental assisting apprenticeship in June of 2007 at the Berks Career & Technology Center. Marne decided to study dental assisting after working for eight years as an export clerk for a medical equipment supply company. As a Certified Dental Assistant, she was another excellent asset to our professional team. Marne loves the great outdoors, and along with her husband and daughter she enjoys camping, hiking, four-wheeling and fishing.
Tammy joined the front desk staff in 2007 after working 26 years in customer service for the airline industry. Tammy enjoys working in a smaller office environment, and likes working close to her home. She loves learning new things, and finds dentistry very interesting. When not at work, she enjoys traveling, bicycling, and spending free time with her son and husband. Tammy has a brown belt in karate, and she enjoys taking karate classes with her son.
Melissa came to WWDA as an intern from Berks Technical Institute. After graduating with her Associates Degree in Dental Assisting, she was hired as a permanent full-time dental assistant to the Doctors in 2011. She loves learning about dentistry and enjoys being a member of our team of assistants. Melissa keeps busy having fun with her husband Josh and their beautiful new baby girl Adilyn Grace when she isn’t in the office working.
In January of 2013 Laurie became part of WWDA and joined our team. She is a graduate of Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, and has been in the dental field since 1982. She brings years of experience from the very basics of dental care to the most complex of periodontal care, and Laurie enjoys assisting patients in returning to or maintaining optimal dental health. When not giving her patients the very best of dental care, she keeps busy cooking and gardening. Laurie is an avid road tripper as well, and enjoys spending time with her two children.
